The need for the Educational Program “Petroleum Engineering” is determined on a systematic basis through the analysis of current trends in the development of the oil and gas industry, labor market requirements, professional standards, employer recommendations, graduate employment indicators, external quality assurance results, as well as the analysis of student enrollment and applicants’ demand for the program.

The relevance and demand for the Educational Program are confirmed by stable graduate employment rates, ranging from 60.0% to 87.0% of the total number of graduates in the year of graduation. Graduates of the program are successfully employed by oil and gas companies and related industries, demonstrating the alignment of the program content with current industry requirements and employer expectations.

An important component of practice-oriented education is the organization of professional internships at leading enterprises of the oil and gas industry. The main internship bases for students of the Educational Program 6B07222 “Petroleum Engineering” include LLP “Ken-Sary”, JSC “Mangistaumunaigaz” (Zhetybaimunaigaz Production Department), JSC “KazTransOil”, JSC “JV Kazgermunai”, JSC “Volkovgeology”, LLP Research and Production Center “Mekensak”, JSC “KoZhaN” (KOZN, Atyrau), JSC “OzenMunayGas”, LLP “Amangeldi Oil and Gas”, LLP “Petro Retail”, JSC “Kazakhstan Institute of Oil and Gas” (KING), LLP “Oil Service Company”, JSC “KazTransGas Aimak”, LLP “Tengizchevroil” (TCO), Shell Kazakhstan Development B.V., Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO), and other specialized organizations of the oil and gas sector.

The Institute of Engineering maintains continuous interaction with graduates of the Educational Program and employer representatives to monitor graduates’ career development, assess employer satisfaction with the quality of graduate training, and ensure the timely improvement of the Educational Program in accordance with the evolving needs of the oil and gas industry.

An important mechanism for strengthening cooperation with employers is the annual Job Fair organized by the University in collaboration with the Career Center. The event brings together leading companies and organizations from Almaty and other regions of Kazakhstan, contributing to the expansion of students’ professional networks, enhancement of their competitiveness in the labor market, development of industry partnerships, and effective graduate employment.

Academic mobility of students of the Educational Program “Petroleum Engineering” is implemented within the framework of cooperation agreements concluded with domestic and international universities, including Sh. Yessenov Caspian University of Technology and Engineering (Aktau, Kazakhstan), Baishev University (Aktobe, Kazakhstan), Ufa State Petroleum Technological University (Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, Russian Federation), Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) (Moscow, Russian Federation), and Belarusian State University (Kyiv, Ukraine). The purpose of these agreements is to promote cooperation between partner universities in the fields of education and science, including the implementation of student academic mobility programs.
